Expansion Teams Threaten Old Guard
There have been a number of upsets as the first half of the third season passes the halfway mark. The Athena's Avengers are moving up in the standings having defeated both the Darktower Slayers and the champion Deathrow Posse. The Chaos Crushers are now tied with the Skaven Skrewballz and the Tombstone Terrors and Harbingers of Doom are leading their respective conferences. The scuttlebutt among the coaches this season is the games are becoming increasingly challenging and that the expansion teams from last year are becoming solid contenders for the coveted NWL Blood Bowl Cup. This means more excitement folks so please stay tuned...

Game Notes
The Arabica Knights defeated the Rage D'Homme in a fine display of Elfish agility. The Rage lived up to their name with Hom Lee-G, a Blitzer, first killing Buzz the Baron, a Lion Warrior, who was saved by the Apothecary, and then breaking the jaw of Baron Peaberry, a Lion Warrior, who is expected to miss the next game along with Buzz who also had his ankle smashed by Emberlast, a Blitzer. There were several complaints from the crowd about the demeanor of the Elves as they went about their business dodging in and out of tackle zones and away from the aggressive play of the Amazons.

The Harbingers of Doom tied the Backwata Bashas in an old fashioned punch you the mouth and take your baby's candy kind of game. Moe Zonker, a Catcher for the Doom, went through Intensive Training and gained Block for this game only. The game was tied up and pushed to overtime where both teams had trouble getting the ball and holding on to it long enough to score a winning touchdown.

There was one Dirty Trick where DJ Zero Gee, a Blitzer for the Posse, Badly Hurt Aphrodite, a Blitzer for the Avengers, who then got caught by the ref and thrown out of the game. The Game was pushed to overtime where the Avengers turned to their stars when Marsha Shaw, a Thrower, completed a pass to Arachne, a Blitzer, who then ran it in for a Touchdown.

Game Notes
The Tombstone Terrors defeated the Darktower Slayers in a close fought, final push, do or die, Screw You Nuffle! heated contest. Nashing Norman and Tony Toebiter, both Ghouls, sat this match out due to handicap results. The Terrors received but then had great difficulty in picking up the ball and getting it into their cage. The Slayers prevented the Terrors from getting into the end zone and then received the ball in the second half. As the Terrors started to collapse the Slayer's cage in the second half the Slayers were forced to make a pass over the line that was intercepted by Carnivorous Carl, a Ghoul. Swinging wide and running for the end zone the Terrors ball carrier was left exposed and the Slayer managed to get a hit and knock him down before the Terrors could bring up reinforcements. The Slayers had one last chance but failed to knock down the one Terror player covering the ball and fell down instead. From there the Terrors just had to pick up the ball and hand it off to Foul Nosecurler, a Wight, who was the only Terror player in reach of the end zone.
Tombstone Terrors Notes

The Tombstone Terrors had one star player gain with Vomit Belcher, a Skaven Linerat who had been resurrected as a Zombie, getting Block. The team bought a re-roll.

The Darktower Slayers had no star player gains. The team retired Talvig Bloodletta, a Blitzer, and hired Kadzug da Kruncha, a Blitzer, as his replacement.

The Wild Ones were back to their wily tricks in their win over the Blood River Savages. In a reversal of what is considered normal Elf vs Orc action the Wild Ones had three Casualties, five if you include the Dirty Tricking Casualties, and the Savages had Four Completed Passes, which equaled their team's all time total. The Wild Ones had four Dirty Tricks total with two players, Sieran Highhair and Melgolas Stouttree, both Lineelves, being thrown out of the game due to foul play.
Wild Ones Notes

Game Notes
The Skaven Skrewballz dodged, leaped and scurried their way to a victory over the Chaos Crushers. The Crushers had two handicap rolls which resulted in Bjorn Bonecrusher, a Chaos Warrior, being Inspired and taking Block, and Smelling Salts for the team this match. The Skrewballz received to start the first half but then had trouble handling the ball and took four turns to finally get into the end zone. The Crushers caged up and marched down the field to score at the end of the first half. After the Crushers caged again to start the second half, it looked like they were going to march down the field once again but for the first time in quite a few matches the Skrewballz managed to break the Crushers cage just enough to get to the ball carrier. With the ball finally on the ground Shifty Garbageater, a Gutter Runner, dodged in, picked up the ball, and then leaped away to pass down field to Germ Spitball, a Gutter Runner, who just happened to be in reach of the end zone.
