Heat Two Is A Wrap!
With Round One-Heat One being defined by Casualties, we knew R1-H2 would be distinctive for its scores. While not as flashy as the earlier 5-2 Wildones vs Titans match, The Skaven Skrewballz and Tanglewood Titans gave as good as could be expected in their recent games against perennial favorites the Wild Ones and Tombstone Terrors. The Skrewballz pulled ahead at the half against seemingly insurmountable odds, and the Titans pulled out the OT victory!! Other games had shut outs of a combined 10-0, showcasing the ability of some NWL teams to not only light up the scoreboard, but defend as well! What can we expect in Heat number three, a rash of Dirty tricks? Perhaps a string of casualty filled ties? Its anyones guess whats next, so stay tuned!

The Tombstone Terrors were defeated by the Tanglewood Titans in a stunning upset. Serg Oakwood (a Dragon Warrior) showed up to play with Knuckleduster and was an Ironman for this match. The Titans plucked a fan from the crowd and had him play on their side, That Boy's Got Talent. Carnivorous Carl (a Ghoul) suffered from Morley's Revenge. The game started slowly and the Terrors pulled out to a two touchdown lead but the Titans tied things up to end the second half. The Terrors could not fully secure the ball from their elf opponents and the Titans scored first in overtime for the win.

The Blood River Savages fell to the Deathrow Posse in a shutout. The Savages had Extra Training giving them an extra Team Re-roll for this game. The Savages also Bribed the Ref but then only did one Dirty Trick the entire match. The Posse received first and took advantage of the nice weather by passing the ball and scored two touchdowns in the first half. By the time the Savages got a hold of the ball in the second half the Posse had put three of their Black Orc Blockers into the KO'd box. The Human Linemen were standing up to blocks from Krappa (a Troll) and three times knocked the troll to the ground. The Posse got the ball back and scored a third time to end the match.

Mary Hall (an Amazon Catcher) was Inspired for the game giving her and extra MVP at the beginning of the match and Arachne (an Amazon Blitzer) had some Intensive Training giving her Mighty Blow for this match only. The Orcs KO'd many Amazons with five still in the box at the end of the game but the only one serious injury being Mary Hall (an Amazon Catcher) who suffered a broken jaw and is expected to miss the next game.

The Rage D'Homme were defeated by the Arabica Knights in a nice sunny shutout. The Knights suffered Doom and Gloom cutting their re-rolls in half for the first half of the match and Taser Marcella (an Amazon Thrower) had Knuckleduster giving her Mighty Blow for this game only. The Rage received first but could not hold on to the ball. There were a few Dirty Tricks and Yetta Meeta (an Amazon Blitzer) was caught and thrown from the pitch. The Knight were lucky that the game ended when it did, both of the casualties they suffered happened late in the second half and if the game had continued the Amazons were looking to do some real damage.

The Skaven Skrewballz fell to the Wild Ones in an exciting game. The Skrewballz did some Extra Training giving them an extra re-roll for this match and Abscess Bilespew (a Linerat) had Knuckledusters giving him mighty blow for this game only. With seven rats KO'd in the first half the Skrewballz lead two to one to start the second half and got all their players back. Slurp Frogspit II (a Gutter Runner) twice scurried past the line of elves to score and throw a touchdown pass. The fans were unusually drunk but surprisingly well behaved during the match. The Wild Ones started the second half with three quick casualties, two badly hurt and one niggling injury making their push for victory that much easier.

The Harbingers of Doom defeated the Pizza Paisanos in a contest of new Humans verses old. The Paisanos gave Papa Gino (a Blitzer) Knuckledusters for this game giving him mighty blow. They also Palmed the Coin and had Bruise Schmidt (a Doom Lineman) arrested before the match, he claimed It Wasn't Me. Dick Buttkick (a Doom Blitzer) and Eugene Rothstein (a Doom Lineman) both claimed I am the Greatest and would not step on the pitch at the same time. There were no serious injuries for either side in this match. Drew Bloodzo (a Thrower) sealed the victory for the Doom with an Interception late in the second half.
